State girls golf: Osakis eighth, Eldred 12th individually after round one

The Osakis girls golf team finds itself in eighth place in the eight-team Class AA state tournament field after the first round.

The Silverstreaks shot a 393. Detroit Lakes shot a 321 to lead the tournament by six shots over Marshall. Red Wing is third at 329.  

Osakis’ Alayna Eldred had hopes of competing for an individual state title but finds herself tied for 12th heading into day two. She shot an 81 with a 41 on the front and a 40 on the back. That round leaves Eldred 18 shots off the lead after Red Wing junior Sophia Yoemans shot a blistering nine-under par 63. Her teammate, Leah Herzog, shot a 66.

Lexi Dirkes was Osakis’ second scorer as she came in with a 91. Kadyn Triebenbach shot a 95, while Marissa Reilly (126), Katie Helm (128) and Alexis Randall (130) rounded out the lineup.

Round two of the tournament is set for tomorrow back at the Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan.
