The rapidly-evolving situation around the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has brought the sports world to a near standstill and also thrown a wrench into a lot of outdoor-related banquets and shows that happen during this time of year.
The Viking Sportsmen’s banquet in Alexandria is a part of that. The local group’s annual fundraiser was scheduled for April 2 at the Holiday Inn in Alexandria, but that was postponed. A later date for the banquet had not yet been decided on as of Monday.
National Wild Turkey Federation banquets in the state were also called off late last week, and the annual Rudy Zwieg Decoy Show scheduled for March 21 at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria has been canceled.
On Monday afternoon, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation issued a release that said the organization was suspending all of its events through May 10, 2020. That affects the local Vikingland Chapter banquet for the RMEF that was scheduled for April 4 in Nelson.
