The representatives from both the Osakis and Minnewaska girls tennis teams out of Section 6A who played at the state singles and doubles tournament got wins at the Class A tournament before their run came to an end in the second round.
The Silverstreaks’ Camryn Hoffarth and Mara VanNyhuis took on Haley Cichos and Jenna Dvorak in their first doubles match and won 6-2, 6-1 on Thursday. That sent them into a match-up against Blake School’s Emily Melin and Caroline Cameron on Thursday afternoon that Melin and Cameron won, 6-1, 6-0.
Osakis junior Tia Dykema beat Greta Nesbit of LeSueur-Henderson in her first match. Dykema took a 6-4, 6-0 decision in what was her fourth trip to the state singles tournament.
Dykema played Clare Palen, a senior from Rochester Lourdes, in the second round, where Palen won a 6-1, 6-0 decision.
Danielle and Alissa Thorfinnson of Minnewaska also got a win in their first match in doubles. The sisters teamed up to beat Catherine Tiedemann and Emma Borowicz of Crookston by a 6-0, 7-5 score. They then pushed Anna Seitz and Ava Warren of Virginia in a three-setter before Seitz and Warren won 6-4, 5-7, 7-5.
