Volleyball: Osakis sweep leads to a seventh-straight win

Another day, another win for the Osakis volleyball team. This time it was Swanville that fell in a 3-0 final as the Silverstreaks won their seventh straight match.

“This was a great team effort tonight,” Osakis head coach Kirsten Wessel said. “Once again our setter did a great job of distributing the sets to our hitters, and the hitters did a super job of hitting aggressive and smart. The defense, however, was amazing. They read the attacks well and got the ball to the setter quite consistently.”

Senior Elli Clasemann had 31 assists, while Jacey Larson had a team-high 10 kills. Maddie Johanson added seven kills, and Kylie Anderson finished with six. Megan Peikert and Tianna Stanek had 12 and 11 digs, respectively.

“Our hitter coverage was really good tonight,” Wessel said. “Everything just seemed to be clicking. It was a fun end to a long week, with three away matches and the two earlier in the week went to five games each.”

Osakis’ recent stretch of strong play has moved the Silverstreaks to 11-8 overall and to 7-2 in the Prairie Conference.

“We, as coaches, are very proud of every one of these girls for the energy that they bring to this team, along with the skills and mindset,” Wessel said. “We hope to continue to play this well together throughout the remainder of the season.”
