Wrestling: Strom second as Osakis takes eighth in Ogilvie
The Osakis wrestling team opened up its 2019 schedule by taking eighth out of 13 teams at the Ogilvie Lion Invitational on Saturday.
The Silverstreaks scored a total of 75 points. Saint Croix Falls won the invite with 197 points, while Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena was second with 166 and Royalton-Upsala rounded out the top three with 154.5.
Osakis senior Dominic Strom continued his strong season by taking second at 195 pounds. Strom got a bye out of the first round before winning 5-3 in the quarterfinals and 2-1 in his semifinals match. He fell by a 4-2 decision in the championship against Jack Hensel of Park Rapids.
Hunter Harlow finished fourth for Osakis at 152 pounds. Harlow won a 17-13 decision in the quarterfinals but fell in a 4-0 decision in the third-place match to end his day.
Logan Grove (106), Kale Drevlow (126) and Triston Stoetzel (170) all finished fifth in their weight classes. Grove won by fall in 2:26 in his final match. Drevlow finished off a 4-3 decision in his, and Stoetzel won a 6-4 decision in overtime to wrap up his tournament.
Osakis rounded out its lineup in Ogilvie with Garek Radtke finishing eighth at 120, Nathan Kulzer taking sixth at 132, Carsten Jacobson finishing eighth at 138 and Tyson Hagedon taking eighth at 145.
Osakis has just one competition on its schedule this week. The Silverstreaks will host their home tournament on Jan. 11 starting at 4 p.m.
