The Osakis wrestling team opened up its season by going to the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Early Invite on Nov. 27 where the Silverstreaks finished sixth out of seven teams.
Osakis scored 65 team points. BBE defended its home mats and won with 223.5 points, and Long Prairie-Grey Eagle-Browerville was second at 205.5.
Senior Nathan Kulzer led Osakis with a third-place finish at 138 pounds. He pinned Paul Stacey of LPGE-Browerville in the first period (1:07) during his last match. His Osakis teammate, Carsten Jacobson, finished right behind him at 138 pounds in fifth place after Jacobson pinned his final opponent in 1:27.
Jacob Taplin also finished fifth at 106 pounds. He won a 5-3 overtime match against Tyce Anderson to secure that spot. Logan Grove was fourth at 113 pounds. Gavin Cimbura was fifth at 120 pounds, Kale Drevlow was fourth at 145 pounds, Tyson Hagedon sixth at 152 pounds, Nathan Bjerk fourth at 182 pounds and Brock Faber finished fifth at 220 pounds. Faber pinned his man in 2:55 in his final match of the day.
