The Osakis wrestling team jumped back into competition after the holidays by going to the 40th annual Lion Invitational in Ogilvie on Saturday and coming back with a 12th-place finish out of 13 teams.
The Silverstreaks scored 47 points, while Saint Croix Falls won the tournament with 232. Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena was second with 188.5 points, and Kimball Area was third with 173.
Senior Nathan Kulzer led the way for the Silverstreaks with a second-place finish at 138 pounds. He dropped the championship by fall against Will Magaard of KMS, who is 17-1 on the season. Kulzer won an 8-6 overtime decision and a 7-4 decision leading up to the title match.
Logan Grove continued his solid season for Osakis with a third-place finish at 113 pounds. He is 12-5 after pinning Gage Allen of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton in 1:13 during the third-place match.
Gaven Cimbura finished seventh at 120 pounds after he got a pin in 3:23 in his final match. Nathan Bjerk finished in that same spot at 182 pounds with a pin in 2:46 during the seventh-place match to round out the Silverstreaks’ top-eight finishers at the invite.
